The Best of 90s Commercials

Iconic 90s Commercials

Anyone who grew up in the 1990s and early 2000s can tell you that commercials used to be a lot more entertaining and actually worth watching. In fact, most of us can still quote and sing along to these 90s commercials at the drop of a dime!

Who doesn't remember the commercial breaks during Saturday cartoons or during our favorite TV shows like Saved by the Bell and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? While we may not necessarily miss commercial breaks with the streaming format taking over -- we're going to reminisce about the crazy funny advertisements we used to enjoy as kids.

So sit back and get ready to enjoy some of the best snack commercials of the 90s!

Baby Bottle Pop

"Baby Bottle Pop, Baaaby Bottle Pop!" Don't lie, you starting singing that melody in your head, didn't you! This catchy tune is still at the forefront of our memories, you can recognize this jingle anywhere! And if you're a Millennial/ older Gen Z, you'll probably have someone start singing along with you if you start the tune off.

Just like the song, the Baby Bottle Pop has stood the test of time! Thanks to its popular commercial everyone is familiar with the baby bottle shaped lollipop with its own dipping powder. While it was invented in the 90s, it's still available in a wide variety of delicious flavors today. Remember, “lick it, dip it and shake it, then lick it again.”

Gushers

Gushers were and still are, a great lunch box snack! Mouth-watering fruit snacks gushing with juicy fruit punch in the middle, every kid wanted them. Out of all the original Gusher commercials, the 1995 commercial was the wildest!

Featuring some of the newest CGI technologies, kids' heads were turning into animated Gusher fruits! With the unforgettable slogan, “They’ll turn your head” kids were both intrigued and a little scared to eat them.

Despite some funny, and even questionable candy commercials, Gushers are still a key feature in every school lunch bag today!

Push Pop

Who knew Deadpool was an avid Push Pop fan? That's right, your eyes don't deceive you, that's a young Ryan Reynolds getting "Hip to the Pop" with a handful of Push Pop candies! Along with his appearance, the jingle and overall hip-hop vibe of this clip is what makes it an iconic 90s commercial.

“You either know what to do with it, or you don’t”. The product is simple yet genius! A lollipop you push up to eat and then clip to your clothes to save for later, at the same time keeping your hands clean. Fun, colorful and made with children in mind, this commercial was the epitome of 90’s advertisements.

Just thinking about it makes us want a push pop.

Ring Pop

I'm fairly certain every kid of one point in time absolutely needed a Ring Pop (or at least thats what we would tell our parents). These stylish, yet delicious hard candies are still a highly sought after treat. It's more-so a nostalgic find today, but still brings us the same thrill as it did back in the day!

The Ring Pop commercial had us all mesmerized with their colorful confections and portable model to enjoy on the go. Released in the 90s, this candy was a staple of the decade and still holds a near and dear place in our hearts.

Kool Aid

One of the wildest 90s commercials was the “Wacky Wild Kool-Aid Style”. Filled with children, cartoon graphics and of course the Kool-Aid man, this one truly haunts us. Featuring kids running into the kitchen looking for some refreshing Kool-Aid they find the juice jug empty. Not to fret, of course the Kool-Aid man crashed through the wall to show cupboards full of delicious “Wacky Wild Kool-Aid Style”.

As the kids begin to drink weird animations and graphics start appearing all over. Whether it's crazy eyes, fluid being shot out of their ears or being catapulted out of a chimney in a miraculous wave of juice, this commercial was pure chaos -- which makes it as memorable as it is!

Pringles

Who can forget about these potato chips in a tube?! First introduced in the late 1960s, they gained popularity in the 1980s and 90s thanks to their creative commercials and catchy jingles. Appealing to a wide age group, this commercial was for the every-day person in the 90s. Whether you're a kid or a full grown adult, you can have plenty of fun snacking on this savory snack.

In the 90s, Pringles introduced several commercials filled with attractive teenagers popping open the tube and crunching into a stack of chips. They combined a winning combination of the slogan “Once You Pop, You Can’t Stop” with the element of ASMR. Thanks to its catchy music and memorable imagery, these commercials can still be recited today.

And I think we can agree that everyone still struggles to stop at one chip when munching on Pringles chips.

Mentos

This feel-good commercial made us feel like there wasn't anything we couldn't do if we had a stack of Mentos in our pockets. If we want to debate on memorable jingles, I would argue that this commercial takes the cake! If you don't start off singing the song, by the time the ad is over, you're definitely singing along!

This Mentos ad is so iconic that it was briefly referenced during a scene of the 1995 cult-classic film, Clueless. You can hear the commercial playing as Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Josh (Paul Rudd) discuss Tai's (Brittany Murphy) makeover while she's watching TV and singing along to the jingle.

Like everything that came out of the 90s, these commercials bring a wave of comfort and nostalgia with them. At the time, directing advertisement towards kids was all the rage, so they were all the more zany and wild. But commercials are generally a thing of the past now. Today, you'll have to sit through a YouTube ad here and there, but nothing as captivating as these fun commercials!

Even though we only listed our top 7 candy commercials from way-back-when, we want to know what your favorite commercial was from the 90s! Did we revive any memories for you? Let us know!
